Extended bio:

Leannán Shi formed in late 2024 as an ambitious group of individuals each looking for a way to make waves in their local music scene. Based out of Fairfax, Virginia they spent the next year making their name known to local audiences, and crafting the beginnings of their first original music in hopes of breaking into the larger DC scene. Though a Rock n’ Roll band at heart, the group's eclectic sound is derivative of their willingness to draw inspiration from anywhere they can in order to open up new avenues for themselves. Leannán Shi aims to break ground in this new era of music by fusing their rock heavy inspirations with the pop and alt sounds of modern artists; and with their indelible melodies, timeless sound, and electrifying live performances they are bound to do just that.

The group's name was inspired by the Leannán Sidhe (Lee-Ahn-Awn Shee), a figure in Irish folklore who, vampiric in nature, tends to prey upon young artists or musicians of Milesian descent. Often the Leannán Sidhe is depicted as a beautiful woman of the Aos Sí who comes to young artists or musicians seeking to take the mortal as a lover. She becomes their muse, inspiring wondrous works of art, allowing them unfathomable success and fame; but in exchange she feeds on their life and the artist dies young. The band was quick to draw a parallel between this and the “27 Club,” an unfortunate, yet iconic part of rock n roll history.
